Pensacola has something for every sports enthusiast, whether you prefer to participate or watch. The city is home to two professional sports franchises, two college athletic programs, and hosts one of America's top short-track racecar events. The Pensacola Bay is also the primary training base for American Magic, the U.S. yacht racing team that competes for the America’s Cup. In addition, the city offers a diverse range of sports activities such as running, cycling, boating, sailing, tennis, golf, and target shooting, along with college-level championships and youth sporting events that attract top athletes to the area.For more information on each team and event, click here.

Professional Sporting Events

Pensacola is home to several professional and amateur sports teams. Some of the popular sporting events in Pensacola include:

1. Pensacola Ice Flyers

The Pensacola Ice Flyers are a professional ice hockey team that plays in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). The team plays their home games at the Pensacola Bay Center and their season runs from October to April.

2. Blue Wahoos Baseball

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are a minor league baseball team that plays in the Southern League. The team plays their home games at Blue Wahoos Stadium and their season runs from April to September.

3. Five Flags Speedway

Home of the Snowball Derby, has been the premier short track event each year since its beginning in 1968.

College Sports

Two area colleges, multiples championships, endless enjoyment – see what’s happening at the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College.

1. University of West Florida

Since joining Division II, the UWF Argonauts have amassed 9 National Championships including football, baseball, women's soccer, men's tennis & Golf. 

2. Pensacola State College

Baseball, Softball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Tennis & Cross Country have all amassed state championships through the years. 

Running and Endurance

Pensacola, Florida is a city that offers a variety of running and endurance events throughout the year. Some of the popular events include:

1. Pensacola Marathon

This is an annual event that takes place in November and includes a full marathon, half marathon, and 5K race. The course takes runners through the historic downtown area, along the waterfront, and through scenic neighborhoods.

2. Double Bridge Run

This event takes place in February and includes a 15K and 5K race. The course takes runners over two bridges and offers stunning views of Pensacola Bay.

3. McGuire's St. Patrick's Day Run

This is a 5K race that takes place in March and is one of the largest running events in the area. Participants are encouraged to wear green and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

4. Fiesta 10k and 5k

This event takes place in May and includes both a 10K and 5K race. The course takes runners through historic downtown Pensacola and offers views of the Pensacola Bay.

5. Pensacola Beach Run

This event takes place in October and includes a half marathon and 10K race. The course takes runners along the scenic Pensacola Beach and offers stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Water Sports and Events

Pensacola's beautiful beaches and waterways offer many opportunities for a variety of sailing and fishing events throughout the year. Some of the popular events include:

Golf

Pensacola has several golf courses that offer challenging courses and stunning views. Some of the popular golf events in Pensacola include:

1. Pensacola Open

The Pensacola Open is an annual golf tournament that takes place in May. The tournament is open to professional and amateur golfers and is held at the Perdido Bay Golf Club.

2. The Club Championship

The Club Championship is an annual golf tournament that takes place in August. The tournament is open to members of the Pensacola Country Club and features a stroke-play format over two days.
